Monday, 30th July 2001: Update #44
Let me tell y'all what its like being male, middle class and white............ IM ROCKIN' THE SUBURBS ????Damn i felt seedy yesterday. Fast food is dodgey at the best of times.... left over fast food is a veritable highway to diarear(sic) and stomach cramps. I woke up yesterday feeling quite crook already, then for some reason I thought eating a fast food chicken roast from the night before would be a good idea. Your NOT supposed to reheat cooked chicken. If this post has just one underlying message its surely this: DON'T REHEAT COOKED CHICKEN!! The following paragraphs of banality are the direct result of the stupor induced by a breast(tee hee hee) of dodgey chicken
Wooppee for me.
Its about fucking time too. Ive been doing this BS for a year, and it sure is nice to be off the white belt. Everyone knows the white belt is the loosers belt and everyone knows black is the experts belt.... but few people know that red is the belt just after white........ so I can tell people red is the belt before black.... which will be fun.
Layman: Wow... a colored belt. You must be good!
Aikido Master Angsty(me): Sure am. Im one belt away from black.
Layman: ooooooooohhhh. Punch through that wall for me!!!
Aikido Master Angsty(me): Ahhhhh Aikido, "the way of harmony", teaches us to harmonise with our opponents and enviroment. Consequently i would use the door.
Layman: You have to sing with the dude thats trying to beat you up??
Aikido Master Angsty(me): Harmonise as in "to be at one with" not as in "Boyz to Men".
Layman: Oh I see. Well... ummmm... merge with that tree over there.
Aikido Master Angsty(me): Ummmmmmmmmmmm...... no.
In the end i decided to go back and have another crack at uni. The reason it was a bit contentious is because, this last semester i went part time (2 units) and I STILL managed to fail a unit. God i'm dodge. Anyway, its a brand new semester with a brand new set of unit coordinators to try my excuses on and a brand new bunch of students to scab assignments from, so.... heres hoping things start looking up at uni.
I get along so much better with people that aren't familiar with my little tricks. I spose I get along better with people that don't know me generally.
The dot.com shake up makes life difficult. The whole napster thing makes it positively impossible. Not only have companies become really stingy with their bandwidth, but now everyones terrified of a lawsuit..... which is silly, because ISP's are protected under the law: they have no obligation to monitor what people are hosting on their servers. Of course...... the same thing applied to Napster.... and it didn't do them any good, because the high court judge decided to rule against the law. Because it was in America. And because big business was involved.
I'm rambling. Where was I? Oh yeah.... themp3alt is up shit creek. Actually no its not. Ive changed my mind. Sure the dot.commers have had a sad and are continuing to have a sad about bandwidth and copyright issues...... but it just means we have to adapt. Perhaps spread our stuff, through FTP and IRC. Encourage more people to join the channel and encourage more people to open FTP's.
Actually FTP's might not be such a good idea. Most of the major cable providers in Australia have tightened their belts too. Of course half of the 3 gig cap is 1.5 gig....... so i figure that the cable sluts should still be able to serve atleast 1.5 gig a month. But..... the 2 biggest cable sluts in the channel decided the 3 gig cap was justification for shutting down their servers altogether. No need to mention names. Bah. I hate ppl. Everyones so fucking greedy.
The best way to get themp3alt fired up again is to get people motivated about helping out. annnnnnd im tired of writing about this. Auf wiedersehn (polite german for good bye).

Wednesday, 11th July 2001: Update #43
Survivorer II started about a week ago. Im not sure how I feel about the new Survivorer. On one hand is the fact that I like Amanda much less then I like Samn. Amanda is mean, where as Samn is nice. Amanda is dominatrix (think lesbian in leather), where as Samn is usually happy to go with the flow (think lazy heterosexual male). Maybe the mean and domineering aproach will work better with Survivorer. Certainly I know she won't put up with any apathy from the contestants. I imagine lack of contestant enthusiasm will have you eaten by Amanda's personal dingo pack pretty early on in the show.
Personally, im throwing my conciderable EN weight (as in conciderably little) behind EN youngster Jocelyn. She's not the funniest contestant in the game and her style is very blogish. I like her anyway. Theres just something about her. Maybe its because she's the only girl on the island thats not a cam-slut. It might also be because shes at odds with Amanda about the quality of her posts, and as someone that Amanda hates, I am duty bound to disagree with everything she sez. Personally, i concider it seriously damn laughable, for Amanda to be criticizing others for a lack of variety in their posts. All Amanda EVER writes about is her fansigns, dumb email and her clique of sites she links to too much. Then every now and again shes mixes things up with a sentence that makes no sense and an irrelevant image of some sort. VERY predictable. As much as i want Jocelyn to win, Im starting to think either Bob or Ogre will win. Don't ask me why, thats just my guess. I would say Jocelyn will win..... but it's hard to get anywhere in life when the Gods are against you.
