West Australian Basil Zempilas outrage by M. Zygote
There was outrage this week after the Saturday West Australian "Out and About" social section did not include a picture of Basil Zempilas.
"This is completely inappropriate," said a channel 7 spokesperson. "We will be complaining about this to the print media standards board. "This has caused great damage to Basil's image in Perth, and Basil and his family are greatly distressed. We are demanding The West apologise for this immediately. It is disgusting when newspapers think they can get away with this sort of thing."
Di Boring, socialite and editor of the "Out and About" section, said yesterday that Basil's picture was not included due to an error. "We had the weekly shot of Basil and were going to print it, but there seems to have been some sort of computer glitch at the time of printing. It was certainly not deliberate." She said there will be a public apology in the next issue, along with two pictures of Basil, to make up for the mistake.
