Artists covered?? With the exception of Arthur Alexander's 1962 song "Anna (Go To Him)", those songs were not originally performed by their composers but by artists who, much like the pop divas of today, sang the works of contemporary industry songwriting factories such as Goffin/King, Leiber/Stoller, Bacharach/David, and so on; who provided many of the MOR hits of the 1950s and 1960s.. remembered today as classics and sold and re-sold on network television in box sets for ONLY $30 each plus postage and handling. Anyway here's the real list of artists covered on Please Please Me:

A Taste Of Honey - Lenny Welch**

** this one's an old standard though, I'm pretty sure that guy wouldn't've been the first to do it, just the most influential on the Beatles' version. I could find out but I can't be arsed. Paul McCartney was unfortunately prone to singing such pap, no doubt to the delight of that stupid pap-lover Brian Epstein.

I must apologise, as (like the cartoon) my message was also 'potentially misleading'.
I can understand how a person might see the word 'covered' and mistakingly believe that I am alleging that The Beatles performed a song that another person performed.
However, we all appreciate that a person could not possibly see the phrase 'writers covered' and immediately assume that I am necessarily alleging that The Beatles performed a song that other persons 'performed'; they can merely assume that I am alleging that the Beatles performed songs that other persons 'wrote'.
For these reasons, I dare say that Benny's post is also 'potentially misleading'.
Nevertheless, the important thing is that The Beatles are being talked about. Christ knows that They are not talked about often enough, and - let me tell you - the children of Perth (Rock City) would be much more spiritually advanced if They were talked about on a more regular basis. Here is to more enlightening input from Disciple Benny and all other intelligent rock beings in the fine city of Perth (Rock City).
