Nathaniel Merriweather,
Jennifer Charles and
Mike Patton have made an album called
Lovage: Music to Make Love To Your Old Lady By. Needless to say with a title like that, it is a concept album; all about sex.
Nathaniel Merriweather is just one the many psudonyms used by music producer
Dan Nakamura. Chances are your more familiar with his "
Dan the Automator" handle, from his work with
Del The Funkee Homosapien on the
Deltron 3030 and
Gorillaz projects (Del and Dan together, make up the character Russel).
The list of contributors to this album is both long and august.
Damon Albarn makes a small appearance as "
Damien Thorne VII of the Cockfosters Clan".
De La Soul help out a bit, as does
Prince Paul of
Handsome Boy Modeling School and
Afrika Bambaataa. In fact perhaps the only really notable absense is Funkee Del: who doesn't appear on the album at all. I think perhaps, Nakamura wanted to work with harder, sexier vocals then Del's hip hop vocals. And nobody does Hard and Sexy quite like Mike Patton.
Anyway... great album. Listen to this, the 2nd track off the album, and the one your most likely to have heard on the Radio.
ExistAngst is listening to....
