The results to the Triple J ACT Unearthed are now known. Congratulations to red rocket and The Bumblebeez..... its good to see a couple of bands from canberra winning something for once.

If I personally had to award an "honourable mention" or a "close but not quite there, sucker" award, I award them to.... Judging for the ACT Unearthed must have been so tight.... as good as the winning songs are, the Atticus and the Pink Fit tracks are SO fucking close to being just as good. Support local Australian music and go see any of these guys in the ACT, because it really is incredible (incredibly sad?) to note the wealth of talent in the Australian music scene that regularly gets passed over for the sheer volume of contenders.

Spoon
n. Implement, with a bowl at end of handle, for carrying food to the mouth.

Despite what Webster's would have you believe, Spoon isnt just a tool used to dig food, or the battle cry of a large blue superhero, it also happens to be a band. A band, that happens to play music. Unlike many bands, Spoon made an important career move in choosing to play good music. Here is some music by Spoon.
The Way We Get By is the new single being played on Triple J.

Who would've thought, just as we get a new Pearl Jam song a new Nirvana track hit the airwaves.

Break out your flanel shirt and party like it's 1991!

Shane Nicholson has just released his debut solo album it's a movie. He's the former/current (not sure which) frontman for aussie alt group Pretty Violet Stain.

He's got a sort of folksy rock thing going on that's pretty neat, not unlike that of Darren Hanlon or a stripped down Alex Lloyd. Designed To Fade is the single doing the rounds at the moment. UPDATE: Moved these files to the free web1000 host, as I can only store 10Mb at bigpond.
