Neko Case, will be touring Australia in December (she is from, among other things, The New Pornographers). She will be supporting Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds on the run of dates that the Bad Seeds are doing in and around Homebake.

Neko Case Get along to the Melbourne show. Calexico will be great to watch. I can't say for sure but I highly suspect that Calexico, while obviously doing their own set, will also be backing band for Neko Case. Her 2002 album, BlackListed, featured contributions from the members of Calexico.

It's just a huge pitty that neither Calexico nor Ms Case will be touring the whole country. It's disappointing really the way Perth and Adelaide are consistently overlooked by touring international acts. Perth sort of expects to be overlooked by wankers like Radiohead. But to be overlooked by smaller acts like Calexico and Neko Case really stings. It must surely says something pretty damning about either Perth itself or the bands that decide not to come here. Perth must offer really poor returns to touring acts when we are overlooked by the likes of Calexico. On the 7th of December, when Melbourne readers will no doubt be enjoying Nick Cave, Neko Case and Calexico, I will go out and see some of the incredibly high quality local music that Perth has to offer, trying hard, to remind myself that this high quality is probably partly because so many international acts refuse to tour here.

Anyway, I should stop dumping my repressed frustrations onto this website in the form of music industry rants. Todays mp3 comes from a Matador sampler disc I got when I bought The New Pornographers album, The Electric Version. "Deep Red Bells" is from 2002 Neko Case album, Blacklisted.

<3 Neko
I want to do the road trip across to Sydney and go to the Radiohead gig, just so I can throw beer bottles at Thom Yorke so that he never goes back EVAR.
Why wont you go west Thom? WHY?!
