You could make song comparisons all day long. Disect every song you've ever heard and compare the melody , rythmn and vocal styles etc of every band ever.
Or you could stop whinging and just enjoy it.

Aw c'mon, maybe the problem here is my written expression rather than a love of derivative crap on this website. It isn't Jets 'familiar' riffs that irritate and annoy this consumer, its the ripped off attitude.

That The Strokes ripped off countless bands before them isn't lost on me, what *is* is the totally derivative, and I might add cynical, attitude that Jet display. It's that swagger down to within a quarter of an inch of every other dirty skinny pale guitar-boy band, the same-same dress sense, the same (insert, repeat ad naseum).

Everything about them is a facsimile of one selling point or another from any number of popular bands. And so were The Strokes, btw, which was supposed be a second-level joke in my payout of Jet but, y'know, feel free to take yourself Henry Kissinger seriously.

And that's what makes *me* go 'Jet? spew!'

And as for the self-indulgent record, who doesn't love a rehash band? Some of my favourite bands are blac ... er, derivative. Flaming Lips, Turbonegro, Regurgitator, etc. The difference being that what they rip off they infuse with their own ("unique") charm ... be it attitude, delivery, spin, what have you.

Jet do live up to the hype! Well, to an extent anyway. It's amazing!

I bought their album today after listening to these MP3s. Sure, they're not the greatest band ever, but that doesn't mean their music isn't worth listening to.

I really don't see what the hype is with Jet though, yeah i don't mind some of their stuff, but it's not really special, there's alot of bands just like it out there. So they're aussie, good for them, i know i should support guys who went to my school and all, but like i said, i fail to see what's so special. Basically i don't think they were worth how much they signed for, that's probably what pisses me off.
