Well. Where should I begin?

Clearly, it has been a while since anyone paid any attention to this site. For my part, this is because I have had a pretty crazy couple of months recently. I was beaten up pretty badly in early January, have been in the midst of Raw Comedy since about the 15th of Jan. Other then working hard on making people laugh and being assaulted by complete strangers, I have been behaving as if I am on holdidays (drinking lots and spending time with good mates). What exactly I am holidays from is anyone's guess.

I'm not sure what will become of this website. On one hand I feel like it is the coolest thing i've ever done on the internet.... on the other hand I feel like it's alot of effort to put into a website that was never as popular as it should have been.

Of course as with most things in life, the act itself should be it's own reward. With that in mind I will try to keep this tired old dog alive, worry less about how little people care and think more about how this site exposes me to cool new music I would never ordinarily have come across.

elbow - cast of thousands One of the best albums I picked up last year was from a band named Elbow. Their album was called Cast Of Thousands. It's not unusual for Triple J to neglect good music. The Elbow album never made it to the hallowed ranks of "Triple J Feature Album" in 2003. Which would be unremarkable except for the fact that this is the sort of fare that Triple J would normally slam into high rotation without hesitation. Is Richard Kingsmill getting around to enough music?

Fill the comments with albums that JJJ never paid any attention to in 2003, but ought to have done.

I'm glad you're updating again.

However, not to glad to read that you were beat up. That's terrible!

Good to see the site up and running again, Riz.
Tidy work mate.

Did The New Pornographers album get a JJJ Feature album spot?

While we all have our hectic lives, sometimes spinning out of control like a whirlwind, or at other times rolling by slowly like a tumbleweed;
It's good to know that we can come to somewhere like The Alt for good music that we would otherwise not hear in our daily lives, being forced to listen to Triple M at work, and listening to the same old music getting rotated on jjj in the afternoons and mornings.

So with that said, I thank you Angsty for keeping the site alive and to all the posters for sharing their thoughts and music.

Keep on Truckin` 2004 !

This is the least pretentious music site on the net. You have to keep it going. Where else would we hear about such great deserving bands. Especially in the United States home of MTV!

Comment posted by: SA4Ever at February 16, 2004 05:18 AM

Ditto and Amen.
It's great to see The Alt up and running again, and I thank you for bringing all this music, that I would otherwise have never heard, to my attention.

You're right, this site is the coolest thing on the internet and though it may not be as widely recognised as it should be, it obviously has its share of devout fans :)

I recently bought a CD which I first sampled here and it's fantastic. You're doing an excellent job and I hope you keep it up!

Thank the diddims that the site is back (somewhat). KEEP IT UP! It is the only decent alternative to, well, everything really.

I too had my first serious fight in **ages** in January, after about 20 'cowboys' (this drink of choice may illustrate just how anti-hard and crap at being tough I am.) Perhaps you can open a link for a "Gallery of Bruised Egos (and Heads)"
Did you forget your special "AngstyBlock" - tap back on the joystick twice and press 'high kick' - whereby you taunt your thick, violent attackers with how thick and violent they are? And then stab 'em in the eye with a sharpened Bic.
Keep truckin' in the face of indifference - without you I wouldn't have run down to HMV *eeuwgh* and come back with a copy of 'Shutes Too Narrow' in my hot little hands...

Great site dude, you're the only way i get to hear great new bands from Scotland!

Comment posted by: spuckle at February 19, 2004 09:46 PM

you suck for bagging out triple j.

They can't put every album on "album of the week".

I listen to everyday and it's an awsome station.

At least they're not commercial.

I admit not all the music played is good but it's way better than brittney spears and guy sebastian.

You shouldn't bag so much.

But thankyou for putting good downloads on your site.

Comment posted by: nick at March 24, 2004 08:03 PM

Just thought I'd let you know Triple J do play Elbow. They're the only reason I have any idea who Elbow are! I recall them talking them up a fair bit too, giving a brief bio when they played tracks. Just because they didn't make feature album doesn't mean they were neglected entirely.
