Lots of guys from bands you have heard of before come together to form
The Minus 5, a band that made an album this year called
Down With Wilco.
That just there was my short exposition for this post.
The longer version would go something like
"Oh man The Minus 5 are like, so cool! They sound a bit like Wilco mixed with the Beatles mixed with The Beach Boys!" and then I would prattle on for a while about how much I love this album and how many other bands influenced it.
But you guys hate it when I do that so I will keep this post short. In fact it's a pitty that I had to mention Wilco at all. This will be the second posts in a row now. It makes me look like some sort of weird wilco-loving nerdbo. And i'm totally not. Jeff Tweedy didn't even write the songs on this album (ok i think he might have written 1 or 2). For the most part, Wilco are just the backing band for The Minus 5, who are made up of Peter Buck from
REM, Scott McCaughey of the
Young Fresh Fellows (McCaughey does the words and the singing and is the main man in The Minus 5), Ken Stringfellow of
The Posies and Sean O'Hagan of
High Llamas
But none of that is as important as the fact that Jeff Tweedy has got his fucking name into yet another post on this site with his contribution to this album from The Minus 5.
Damn your evil alt-country genius. Damn it to hell Jeff Tweedy!
