Back in the early 90s, there was a huge scene in Montreal based around so-called "warehouse parties". Bands would rent warehouses and hold concerts/parties until the wee hours of the morning. At the forefront of this scene was an odd little band called The Snitches. Known at the time as Monreal's quintessential transexual party band, they made a name for themselves through these self-booked concerts. Years went by, albums were recorded, Fringe Fests were played, line ups were changed and they even snagged an appearence on CBC's Music Works.
Enter now the "rock revival" occuring at the beginning of the millenium. After a couple of silent years, The Snitches made their grand return to music...this time backed by Universal Records. With Patrick Hamilton and Scott Moodie as the only remaining members, they enlisted long time fan Rico Naud as their drummer and placed band audition notices in the classified of the major Montreal weeklies. Their new lineup was complete, so they got some friends together and entered the studio to record Star Witness.
The record is a testament to a band whose notoriety isn't due to the fact that they've been at the game "before everyone else was doing it", but by the fact that they're simply an awesome band. Do yourself a favour and check out the live show if you get the chance.
