In a piece of happy-good-news for people wondering about the fashionability of way impressive sideburns,
Supergrass have turned 10. What that means, effette indie-kids, is that Gaz Coombes-style facial hair should be getting plenty cool in another 10 years time (you know about the 20-yr fashion cycle, right?). Wow! At this rate, you'll probably have a pretty impressive bad teenage beard by then ... just in time to ride the wave all the way to laidsville!
Exclamation points aside(!), the Jekyll-and-Hyde looking Brits (don't pretend you haven't seen the clip to 'Mary') are bringing out a greatest hits package to mark the occasion. Given their propensity for writing catchy, well-produced tunes, that's yer daily 2 cd's of well wicked brit pop/rock right there. Gear!
Supergrass is 10 is released June 7th and contains 21 tracks spanning the band's career, including two newies. Tracks such as:

Speaking of deliriously happy,
Xiu Xiu released their latest album,
Fabulous Muscles, a couple months ago. Have you seen that film by
Todd Solondz,
Welcome To The Dollhouse? What about
Happiness? Did you like that? Xiu Xiu are a bit that way. They're not actually deliriously happy at all ... or maybe they are, in a looped-so-far-around-to-fucked-up-that-they're-actually-back-to-dandy kinda way. Maybe? I don't know. Xiu Xiu are an experimental American band (from Seattle, Oakland or San Diego depending on who you ask) that put out way morbid electro/synth/noise that's actually kind of fun n' catchy (HA!) once you hear it a few times. So it kinda makes sense that they're lumped in with britpop here, right? At least in so far as it's kinda perverted. No? Whatever.
Xiu Xiu - Chapel Of The Chimes - Jennifer Lopez 2.5mb
Xiu Xiu - A Promise - Ian Curtis Wishlist 6.3mb
Xiu Xiu - Fabulous Muscles - Bunny Gamer 3.7mb
Xiu Xiu - Fabulous Muscles - Nieces Pieces (Boat Knife Version) 4.9mb
Word has it that 'Crank Heart' and 'I Luv The Valley OH!' from
Fabulous Muscles are also really good. Faster paced and stuff, too. But, Jesus, man, how many songs do I have to upload for you? Go and order the album already.
